Belgian National Orchestra & Brossé
Under the baton of Dirk Brossé, the Belgian National Orchestra performs the music of Joker during the screening of the film. Todd Phillips' psychological thriller is undoubtedly one of the most memorable films of 2019. It revisits the origins of the legendary "villain" of the Batman comics, showcasing Arthur Fleck's transformation into the psychopathic supervillain terrorising Gotham City. Joker owes its success in part to Joaquin Phoenix's phenomenal performance and its soundtrack, both of which won a Golden Globle and an Oscar. The music by Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir (who also wrote the soundtrack for the mini-series Chernobyl) symbolises the psychological evolution of the Joker: the cello (the composer's instrument) plays the leading role, while the orchestra evokes the gradual eruption of madness in the character's mind. first slumbering in the background, the music gradually intensifies, eventually encompassing the cello completely.
Your ticket also gives you free access to the Nocturne Ensor at Bozar.
