‘Cindy Castillo’

Cindy Castillo, titular organist of the National Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Koekelberg, is undoubtedly one of Belgium’s greatest organists today and has a heart for contemporary music, which underlines her collaboration with Pierre Slinckx in C#3 pour orgue à 4 mains. She further proves in her recital – with works by Bach, Jongen, Widor, and Franck – that she has also perfectly mastered repertory work. Joseph Jongen’s magisterial Sonata Eroica has a special connection with the Centre for Fine Arts, as the composer himself played this piece during the inauguration of the Henry Le Boeuf Hall organ in 1930. This piece therefore symbolises our determination to restore the organ again after the devastating fire some years ago.
