Singing Brussels Celebration

Chorale Equinox

Zeno Popescu, conductor

If you believe that music contributes to a certain sense of wellbeing, then you can only hope that it is accessible to everyone. The children of the Brussels choir meet up twice a week to rehearse songs from home and abroad. This method, developed by the great pianist Maria João Pires and performed out of a desire for excellence under the aegis of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, is proof of the quality of the Equinox project.

Ajisai (Hydrangea) Japanese Choir

Kurasawa, conductor

In Japanese, ajisai means “Hydrangea”. This plant, made up of numerous small flowers grouped into aesthetic spheres perfectly illustrates the essence of a choir, as each voice, with its specificity, contributes to the global harmony. Founded in 1981 by the Parents’ Association of the Japanese School in Brussels, the Ajisai choir is dedicated to bringing Japanese music to Belgium. Parents, grandparents and children, all dressed in kimonos, come together as a family to sing this ancestral repertoire that is so dear to their hearts.
