‘Choeur de Chambre de Namur’

During the Renaissance, hardly any composers enjoyed a reputation like the one earned by Josquin Desprez. This Franco-Flemish composer brought polyphony to such a level of refinement that he was called upon to use his artistry for the benefit of the Papal Chapel in Rome. Josquin’s expertise was demonstrated in particular in the motet genre, splendid examples of which are the sacred pieces featured in this concert programme. Skilfully conducted by Peter Phillips, the founder of the esteemed Tallis Scholars, the Namur Chamber Choir will also be performing works by Heinrich Isaac, an exact contemporary of Josquin, whose reputation also spread to all four corners of Europe.
