‘Chineke!, Edusei & Kanneh-Mason’

15 Nov.'24
- 20:00

Aside from the cinematic Piano Concerto No. 3 by Prokofiev, this programme is a foray into uncharted terrain. The concert is a typical tour de force by Chineke!, which aims to boost diversity in the world of classical music with both the members of its orchestra and the music on the stand. This aim extends to the music chosen by the conductor, Kevin John-Edusei, and pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason. With the world première of Concerto for Orchestra by the young American composer Brian Raphael Nabors, the orchestra prepares for an “epic journey of light, colour, groove and mystery”. Derrick Spiva Jr’s kaleidoscopic Prisms, Cycles, Leaps (2014) grounds the evening firmly in catchy, contemporary music.

A talk with Chi-Chi Nwanoku (founder of Chineke! Orchestra) and Isata Kanneh Mason will take place between 19.00 pm and 19.30 pm in the Henry Le Boeuf Hall. This encounter will be in English. Free admission.
