The name of this international trio (featuring a Dutch violinist, American cellist and Flemish pianist), founded in Maastricht and now based in Brussels, is certainly no coincidence. Chekhov Trio approaches music as a form of theatre, and aims to convey stories and dialogue and explore different voices and characters in the music. Its members perform not only the great classical repertoire but also less familiar composers, such as Wilfried Westerlinck, a contemporary composer from Leuven, and the Dane Niels Gade, who dominated the local musical scene in Denmark in the second half of the 19th century. A concert offering a wonderful collection of new stories to be discovered.
