Farinelli and his time

Cecilia Bartoli is one of those exceptional singers whose immense talent is matched only by her unfailing generosity. Each of her visits is synonymous with triumph. This season, we are honoured to include her in a programme that is close to her heart: Italian music of the 18th century. Great composers such as Porpora, Hasse, Händel and Leo gave birth to the most beautiful arias in the operatic repertoire of the time. They turned to the castrati, true demigods of the stage, to perform arias that challenged their breathtaking virtuosity. To mark the release of her new album, ‘Farinelli’, Cecilia Bartoli sets herself the challenge of taking on a variety of imposing roles. Farinelli, the great queens of history and the mythical heroes of antiquity will come to life before your eyes.
