The incredible vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant returns to Bozar with a major project, Ogresse, which she describes as “a dark tale, full of mystery, about the balance between love, life and death, which ends on a mountain full of snakes and flowers...”. A dark-skinned woman lives in the woods and loves human flesh: Ogresse plays for ninety minutes with thirteen musicians under the direction of Darcy James Argue, and the voice of McLorin Salvant, who single-handedly embodies the various characters in this fairy-tale musical that explores themes such as power, gender, race, diversity and love.
The concert is presented with new visuals created by Lia Bertels and animated by Lora D'Addazio, Julien Regnard and Mathilde Rémy, as part of the adaptation of Ogresse into an animated feature film by Cécile McLorin Salvant & Lia Bertels (Miyu productions, Umedia and Ogresse LLC).
