‘Cartoonists Speak’

8 Oct.'17
- 19:45

Arab Cartoon Festival

Fascinating speakers will share their experiences in the world of cartoons. Expect a unique political debate, with plenty of drama, a lot of humour and some sarcasm, obviously. An evening that is somewhere in the middle between a performance and a talk.

With: Randall Casaer, Steve Michiels (Steve), Pascal LemaîtreKhalid Albaih, Sara Qaed and Emad Hajjaj. Debate moderated by Roel Daenen.

Emad Hajjaj is a Jordanian political cartoonist. He is a prominent publisher/cartoonist, working for the Jordanian TV broadcaster Al Rai and The Jordan Times. Hajjaj created the cartoon character Abu Mahjoob in 1993, becoming a public figure in Jordan as a result.
Khalid Albaih is a Sudanese artist and political cartoonist. He publishes his cartoons on social media under the name “Khartoum!”. He is also the founder of the @DohaFashionFridays and a co-founder of the Khartoum Contemporary Center.
Sara Qaed is an artist, designer and lecturer. She holds a BA in Interior Design and a Master in Fine Art (Teesside University, Middlesbrough – UK). Sara is interested in how protesting women are depicted. She actively looks for ways to keep these forms of resistance alive by creating powerful, wearable fashion designs.
