Meet the writer

Carsten Jensen has travelled to Afghanistan on several occasions over the past forty years. His experiences fed into the monumental war novel The First Stone about a group of Danish soldiers in a military camp in Afghanistan. Despite their excellent training, they are completely unprepared for the relentless spiral of violence into which they are dragged after they are betrayed by their charismatic commander. Jensen discusses his life and work during an exclusive visit to Belgium.

Carsten Jensen (1952) is Denmark’s greatest living author. He shot to international fame with his novel We, the drowned (2006). It received several literary prizes and was elected the best Danish novel of the past 25 years.

The author will be interviewed by Gie Goris, editor in chief of MO*.
