‘Carolin Widmann’

So well do they play together, that a recital by Carolin Widmann and Alexander Lonquich is like listening to a single musician. Over the years they have regularly shared the stage, and in 2012 they recorded a much admired album of Schubert's work. Here too, Lonquich and Widmann perform works by two of their compatriots: the majestically lyrical Violin Sonata, op. 18, by a young Richard Strauss, and Violin Sonata No. 1 by Johannes Brahms, famously known as the “Rain Sonata”. Between these works you will hear Leoš Janáček's Violin Sonata, a piece that is bursting with emotion, just like every other piece of music created by the Czech composer during the prolific and successful twilight of his career.
