‘Carmina Burana - THE RITE OF SPRING’

23 Mar.'17
- 20:00

BALLET, CHOIR, ORCHESTRA, NATIONAL OPERA OF UKRAINE.
Over 100 performers!

“Everything I have written to date, and which you have, unfortunately, published, can be destroyed. With Carmina Burana my collected works begin.” Carl Orff

Orchestra, choir and ballet… This is a magnificent interpretation by the National Opera of Ukraine. Oscillating between subdued, sensual, spirited, it literally bursts into an array of fireworks… Over a hundred performers: symphony orchestra, choir and the highly renowned ballet of the National Opera… Alyona Shevtsova, prima ballerina, performs in this once in a lifetime role. A spectacle not to be missed!

The evening gets off to an equally strong start.... Stravinsky’s "The Rite of Spring" has not been performed in Brussels for a very long time... this masterful creation, with its repetitive stamping chord, is without a doubt one of the defining works of the twentieth century.... it is also rare to find it in its original creation for ballet and symphony orchestra... enchanting.
