‘Dance is an art form in which we are the instruments. To dance is to dream with our legs!’ rhapsodises Mozart’s wife, Constanze. The young conductor Raphaël Pichon, whose recordings of baroque music have received awards on numerous occasions, and the soprano Sabine Devieilhe, who won particular acclaim for her performance in the role of Eurydice on our stage (in Orphée et Eurydice, directed by Romeo Castellucci), invite us to dance. This will be punctuated with concert arias and symphonic excerpts from the prodigious Mozart during a charming programme that aims to demonstrate the versatility of his genius with pieces he wrote for the Vienna Carnival. Take the floor for a ball that invites us to indulge in light-hearted daydreaming and joyful merrymaking – how can anyone resist the call to dance?
