Leonard Bernstein would have been 100 years old in 2018. The Brussels Philharmonic and the Vlaams Radio Koor are paying tribute to this American musical legend, performing enduring classics and treasures to be rediscovered. Bernstein's Chichester Psalms combines the exciting atmosphere of Broadway and the Psalms of David. The comic operetta Candide features many Western musical styles. The musical comedy West Side Story needs no introduction, owing to its world-stirring success. In addition to these masterpieces, Stéphane Denève and his distinguished orchestra are unveiling a hitherto unheard work by Guillaume Connesson, a composer to whom they recently dedicated a recording: Pour sortir au jour, the first album to be released by a Belgian symphony orchestra on the Deutsche Grammophon label. The Classica magazine has awarded the album a Choc de Classica and the Diapason magazine a Diapason d’Or!
