Following two sold-out successes in the Centre for Fine Arts, the Brussels Chamber Ensemble is thrilled to return to the Centre of Fine Arts with its programme entitled: “Sounds of Spain, Sounds of Europe”.

To honour the Spanish Presidency of the EU, the first part of the programme will be devoted exclusively to Spanish music.
Spanish sounds and colours will be heard from the very first notes of Albéniz’ Suite Española, which depicts different regions and musical styles of Spain. Following this, the orchestra will perform Granados’ passionate Intermezzo from his famous “Goyescas” suite. The next piece of the programme, a world premiere, is the winner of the Brussels Chamber Ensemble’s 1st Composition Competition. In his Suite Andaluza, « Miniaturas de una tierra », Adrián Fuentes Flores, a young Spanish composer, depicts a love story unfolding in his native Andalusia. Just before the break, Yuichiro Haruno, one of the youngest orchestra members, will star in De Sarasate’s joyful and virtuosic Introduction and Tarantella.

For the second part of the programme, the Brussels Chamber Ensemble will complete its 3rd Symphony triptych (having performed Beethoven’s 3rd and Mendelssohn’s 3rd in its two previous concerts), by performing Schumann’s romantic, powerful and expressive 3rd Symphony, also nicknamed the “Rhenish” symphony, the sounds of which are, just like the Spanish music in the first half of the concert, unmistakably rooted in the European landscape.

The Brussels Chamber Ensemble consists of professional and semi-professional musicians, all enjoined by their love for music-making.
