‘Brussels Bijoux’

17 Nov.'23
- 19:00

Discover emerging theatrical talent in two Brussels venues: Bozar and the KVS. On our stages, The Four Friends improvise their way through the rich world of Greco-Roman myths. Liza Siche-Jouan and Zoé Hagen will then offer an interactive performance.

7pm Don’t forget about myth

People have always explained the inexplicable with stories, myths and legends. Thanks to tradition, we now know that lightning strikes when Zeus is furious, and that the echo is Hera's punishment for a nymph who was a little too talkative. But can we also explain why squirrels live in trees? Or why ants love to make mounds?

In an impromptu performance, four friends remix the rich world of Greco-Roman myths.

Improvisational theatre is often reduced to improvisational comedy, but these four friends raise the bar. They improvise the entire theatrical production, including set design, lighting and sound. Daring theatre that takes your breath away and leaves you momentarily silent, underpinned by the humour, daring and vivid imagination that are the hallmarks of improvisation.

9pm Catchaboom

For breakfast, this exuberant duo devours patriarchy to the bone. For digestion: stones in shop windows and test drives with burning cars. When it's all over, they take off. With only a bag full of knives, hostility and sunglasses, no one can predict their trajectory.

The thrust of Liza Siche-Jouan and Zoé Hagen's interactive performance is to create a space for the digestion of their anger, giving it a performative mode of expression. Although anger is at the heart of their daily lives and their artistic practice, it is not welcome in public spaces, even less so when it

comes from women and queer people. From this shared oppression, Liza and Zoé began to build a database of references, experiences, materials, objects, movements and conversations that they transformed into a performance.
