5 Beaufort
In this lunchtime concert, a wind quintet made up of experienced musicians from the National Orchestra of Belgium treats you to two easily digestible divertimenti by Haydn and Mozart. Mozart originally composed his Divertimento for a string trio, but its scintillating music is equally successful in this arrangement for wind instruments. Zemlinsky is known primarily as the teacher of Schoenberg and Korngold, but was also, as you will hear in this concert, a fine composer himself. By way of a digestif, the concert concludes with the Austrian composer Frida Kern's Vier Stücke für Bläserquintett.
