‘Belgium is too small for pianist Alex Koo,’ writes De Tijd. ‘Stunningly original,’ confirms the American Downbeat Magazine, which promptly put his album Appleblueseagreen in the top 10 for 2019. No wonder that the Belgian-Japanese sound artist has already worked with international names such as Craig Taborn, Kurt Elling, Mark Turner and Ralph Alessi. Commissioned by Bozar, he composed a book of his own piano études inspired by Debussy, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Taborn and Reich. On 8 May, he will present this at Bozar during an exclusive concert.
