Urban Now: City life in Congo. Creating and reinventing functioning urban spaces
The Centre of Fine Arts (BOZAR) launches this year’s Summer of Photography in Brussels on the theme ‘Urban Vibes’. BOZAR invites anthropologist Filip De Boeck to present his joint research with artist Sammy Baloji on the new ways Congo inhabitants create or reinvent functioning urban spaces amidst run down infrastructures and absent urban planning. This research will be the starting point of a discussion on the realisation of 'sustainable, inclusive and resilient cities', an important goal of the European Union . The joint session is organized by BOZAR, the Institute for Anthropological Research in Africa (KULeuven) and UN Habitat.
