Bow vs. Plectrum is a jazz duo from Croatia consisting of Filip Novosel (tambura) and Tihomir Hojsak (double bass). As Croatia was at the forefront of the tambura revival, Filip Novosel grew up in an ideal environment to become one of the leading specialists of this instrument so typical of traditional music. A graduate of the Zagreb Conservatory and of New York's  prestigious  New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, he has played with such impressive partners as Vic Juris, Peter Bernstein and Richard Boukas. Tihomir Hojsak has shared the stage at major international festivals with both classical and jazz musicians. He has won numerous awards and is a music teacher (at the UCLA in particular). As a duo, the two have succeeded in integrating in contemporary jazz fusion elements drawn from the traditional music of the Balkans and regularly give concerts throughout the world.
