Be a He(a)ro
On 10 September 2021, to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, Boho Strings joined German countertenor Andreas Scholl and Israeli harpsichordist Tamar Halperin on the deSingel stage for a benefit concert. A tribute to Peter De Prins, a teacher and amateur musician in the Boho Strings entourage who died in 2020, the Be A He(a)ro concert aims above all to break down the taboos surrounding suicide, to better prevent and avoid it. At Bozar, these musicians come together in this poignant programme combining the baroque entreaties of Dowland, Bach and Handel with the meditative, contemporary accents of Glass, Jóhannsson, Billy Joel, Silvestrov and Sollima. The message at the heart of this concert? Everyone can be a hero by listening.
A panel discussion with Dr Catherine de Groof, Yamina Krossa, David Ramael, Andreas Scholl and Tamar Halperin will take place between 6.45pm and 7.30pm in the Henry Le Bœuf Hall. This session will be held in English and moderated by Sergio Roberto Grattieri. Admission is free.
