2 Nov.'17
- 20:00

4 producers present 4 short films: Icare by Nicolas Boucart, You're Lost, Little Girl by Cédric Bourgeois, Le Ventre vide by Flore Bleiberg and L'Homme ordinaire by Julien Trousson.
The latest in the new generation of Belgian producers.

Icare – Nicolas Boucart
2017, BE, 25’, Héliotronc

On a tiny island topped with steep cliffs, lives an isolated man. Despite the huge developments in modern aviation, this inventor is obsessed with achieving his dearest dream: to fly using nothing but his arms. For him, only a pure, light, innocent soul is capable of such a feat. 8-year-old Joseph seems to be the perfect candidate.
Nicolas Boucart was born on January 10, 1981 in Tournai. After finishing his film studies at INRACI, the Belgian Film School, in Brussels, he began a career as a scene shifter and cameraman on movie sets. Whilst honing his technical skills in the field, he quickly started to write and direct short fictional films. In 2016, after working as a technician on over fifty short and feature-length films, and having directed three shorts, he devoted himself full-time to writing and directing.

You’re Lost, Little Girl - Cédric Bourgeois
2017, BE, 20', Need Productions

Anna, a young deaf and dumb woman, lives with her grandmother at a campsite. When her grandmother has to be admitted to hospital Anna finds herself alone and becomes easy prey.
This is the sixth short film by Cédric Bourgeois, the maker of Sophie, winner of the prize for best direction at the Court en dit long festival, and of La Bête entre les murs in which the actor Pierre Nisse won an award for his performance.  He also made the full-length documentary Dreamcatchers with Xavier Seron on catch wrestling.

Le Ventre vide – Flore Bleiberg
2017, BE, 13’, Stempel

An abandoned town, the wind is blowing. A boy wanders around aimlessly and observes the strangeness of the world. Then he spots a young girl.
Flore Bleiberg experimented with different ways of breaking into the world of cinema: writing and directing, alone or as part of a group. Through successful collaborations, notably for the theatre, a career of protean director slowly took shape. With Le Ventre vide, she is embarking upon a new path, more classical in appearance.

L’Homme ordinaire – Julien Trousson
2017, BE, 19’, Roue Libre

For his work, Claude Chien plays the ordinary customer. He excels at being anybody, a role that suits him perfectly.  But by virtue of observing everybody, Claude ceases to be anybody. Stuck in a department store, he risks disappearing altogether. Will he wake up in time?
The young Brussels director and musician, Julien Trousson is the man behind a number of video clips and shorts, not to mention the soundtrack of several films (including Maïa Descamps’ D'homme à homme and Juliette Klinke’s Les Dauphines). Keen to combine his passion for the cinema and his love of literature, in 2017 he made his first fictional short, L’Homme ordinaire, adapted from a short literary composition by Laurent Graff.
