Bozar presents an exceptional concert by the Belgian National Orchestra as part of Belgian Music Days, with three premieres by Belgian composers: Apolline Jesupret, Wim Henderickx and Eugène Ysaÿe. Ysaÿe's work is special in that its autograph score was rediscovered at the beginning of 2023 in the Bozar archives as part of a partnership with the Royal Library of Belgium (KBR). Eugène Ysaÿe composed his Ouverture sur des thèmes d'Atala in 1919 as a tribute to his late brother Théo, a pianist and composer, inspired by a cantata the latter had dedicated to him in 1892. The work was performed only once, in Cincinnati in 1920, under the composer's direction. Beyond the premiere of a forgotten work, this concert brings together Belgian composers whose work is an exceptional artistic heritage. In partnership with Bozar, KBR is organising a study day dedicated to the Ysaÿe brothers prior to the concert. You can download the full programme of the study day below.
