The American star violinist Hilary Hahn is the Belgian National Orchestra’s guest. Under Mikko Franck’s direction they play the Violin Concerto by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Obsessed by Finnish sagas, lakes and forests, Sibelius combines a late romantic style with a modern Nordic sound aesthetics in this work. Our national orchestra continues with the deeply lyrical and romantic suite from Richard Strauss' famous opera Der Rosenkavalier.
