Goerner and the Russians

The Argentine pianist Nelson Goerner, laureate of many a competition, combines a crystal-clear touch and technical virtuosity with a poetic sensibility. Over two concerts, he is the soloist in Prokofiev’s challenging Second Piano Concerto and Chopin’s lyrical Second Piano Concerto. Each concert opens with a new work by the Belgian composer Piet Swerts and concludes with Rakhmaninov’s Symphonic Dances. Hugh Wolff conducts the Belgian National Orchestra once more, before taking up the post of principal conductor the following season.
