The Balthasar-Neumann ensemble and choir owe their enviable reputation to their respectful approach to the works and their creative flair, qualities that have been acknowledged by several Echo Klassik awards. This time they are turning their hand to Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine, a work which is characterised by its innovative creativity and which conveys the immense freedom the composer gave himself as he moved from the instrumental and vocal solo, to the introspective spirit of chamber music and the luxuriant sonorities of tutti.
