‘Avishai Cohen Quartet’

The work of trumpeter and composer Avishai Cohen has a lot of common ground: from modern creative jazz, post-bop and avant-garde improvisation to klezmer. The Israeli musician emerged in the late 1990s and is invariably praised for his musical skill, virtuosity and unique sound. In the Avishai Cohen Quartet, he leads the way, closely followed by his old musical comrades - pianist Yonathan Avishai, bassist Barak Mori and drummer Ziv Ravitz. Recent recordings by the quartet such as Into the Silence and Cross My Palm with Silver excel in atmospheric lyricism, but psychedelic fusion and funk influences also make an appearance on Big Vicious.
