The Afropolitan Festival presents two singer-songwriters with unique talents. Aṣa is a phenomenon of the stage, an outstanding performer whose electrifying energy has to be experienced live! She combines European, African and American influences to create solar music, with traces of soul, folk, pop and reggae. With V (2022), Aṣa has produced a new album written and recorded in the midst of a global pandemic in Lagos, the Nigerian city where she grew up. The participation of the Nigerian prodigy produced by P. Priime marks a move towards a deliciously bewitching more Afrobeat and RnB style. 23-year-old Brussels-based singer and musician Oriana Ikomo wraps her neo-soul and RnB vocal melodies in a drape of jazz harmonies and electronic rhythms with a gentle, comforting texture.
