The Last Socialist Artefact
​​​​​​​Oleg and Nikola, two city dwellers from Zagreb, arrive in a small town in the Balkans. Marked by the fall of communism and the breakup of Yugoslavia, its inhabitants live in misery and despair. But Oleg and Nikola have a grand plan for their neglected factory that could restore the town and give some dignity to this forgotten population. If only their potential buyer would pick up the phone...

​​​​​​​Adapted from Robert Perišić's novel The Turbines of the Titanic, The Last Socialist Artefact is an elegiac plunge into the remnants of a world where working-class people, modern entrepreneurship and ancient ideals continue to fuel a self-sucking economic system. While the story relies on the emotions of the characters, sublimely melancholic fake heroes, Dalibor Matanić's pristine direction takes the series to heights of strange poetry, showing that a so-called ‘small’ country can fully tell the story of the ills of our time without forsaking the specificities of its places.
