Dance and elegance
Anna Vinnitskaya’s exquisite playing is elegant and refined. As part of her residency, the brilliant Russian pianist has prepared a charming selection of pieces that are both nuanced and conducive to dance. Piano, dance and elegance are of course synonymous with Frederic Chopin. His Impromptus are imbued with extraordinary sensitivity and poetry. With Schumann’s Arabesque, whose first movement is marked Leicht und zart (Light and delicate), Vinnitskaya’s enchanting recital continues in the same tranquil vein. But expect twists and turns with the very passionate Sonata in F sharp minor, Op. 11, dedicated to Clara Wieck, and the climactic ending promised by Ravel’s mysterious and whirling Waltz.
