Les mots d’amour
In autumn 2020, singer Angélique Kidjo and pianist Alexandre Tharaud delivered an unforgettable cover of Charles Aznavour's song Emmenez-moi together in the Basilica of Saint-Denis in France. The French song is at the heart of their encounter, with its infinite repertoire, its texts and its heady melodies. On stage, this encounter offers more than a recital. A story is told through the songs chosen. Angélique knows how to get thousands of people to dance, while Alexandre is more used to philharmonic halls where the public rarely dances but tends to listen. By tracking words of love, the singer and the pianist talk about what brings them together. With two voices and four hands, they tell a story that is as old as the world yet still new.
