‘Amina Figarova Sextet’

- 20:30

Azerbaijan-born, globe-trotting composer and pianist Amina Figarova introduces ten colorful, compelling new compositions on Blue Whisper, her most recent studio album.  At Bozar they will be performed by her touring sextet.  Figarova's work is shaped by her deeply personal, highly evocative responses to social turmoil and distinctive personalities she's encountered. Throughout her music, Amina's classically-founded touch, her lilting melodies, luminous harmonies, often understated yet always propulsive rhythms and star soloists come together with immaculate sophistication.
Her sextet is made up of world class musicians, like the renowned saxophonist Wayne Escoffery (Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Mingus Big Band) and Darrell Green (Dr. Lonnie Smith, Pharoah Sanders)
