At just 21 years old, Damien Hauser presents his third feature film, After the Long Rains (2024), an initiatory story about distance and returning home, appealing equally to children and adults. The film follows Aisha, a 10-year-old girl living in Kenya, who dreams of becoming an actress in Europe. While her peers follow the paths set out by their parents, Aisha asks Hassan, a fisherman, to teach her how to navigate. Through their relationship, the story explores the idea of breaking free from limiting legacies. Hauser delivers a sincere work, marked by visual experimentation that never feels overwhelming, and a deeply personal vision.

Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Damien Hauser has been producing short films since the age of seven. From 2018 to 2020, he worked for the advertising production company Filme von draussen as a director and cinematographer. In 2020, he graduated from the film school SAE Institute Zurich. His first feature film Blind Love (2021) was released on Netflix Africa and had its European premiere at PÖFF in Tallinn. He works as a freelance film director.
