What would it sound like if you abandoned any notion of genre? That is what bass player Keith Witty, drummer David Frazier Jr. and saxophonist Christophe Panzani must have been wondering when they founded THIEFS. Armed with their respective instruments and an endless array of samples, they create a cool sound, somewhere in between hip hop, jazz and lounge, with which they “transcend any concept of idiom”, according to the JazzTimes.

Hendrik Lasure and Casper Van De Velde of SCHNTZL may still be a bit wet behind the ears but make no mistake, they know their classics. They effortlessly blend old-school harmonies and melodies – even from the Baroque era – into a new, fresh and contemporary sound. The outcome is music with a deliciously dreamy flow, which even feels slightly psychedelic here and there.

It doesn't get any funkier than THE HEADHUNTERS. Herbie Hancock's legendary band were among the founders of jazz funk in the 1970s. Both Bill Summers and Mike Clark, who were part of the original line-up, will be in attendance!

SOWETO KINCH cool jazz combines hints of soul, hip hop and funk. The saxophone player, who graduated with a history degree from Oxford, has won countless awards. Not to be missed!
