In Michel Hatzigeorgiou, BOZAR welcomes one of the founders of the new wave of jazz in Belgium. Like many musicians of his generation, Michel spent the early 1980s in Liège, which was the epicentre of the Belgian jazz scene at the time. Ten years later he was a regular fixture in Brussels, where a new scene arose around the De Kaai jazz club. He was among the founders of the Belgian avant-garde jazz band Aka Moon: now a famous name worldwide. His path has also crossed that of many a legend of the world of jazz such as his role model Jaco Pastorius and Mike Stern. He is also a current member of the Sinister Sister group and travels the world as a sought-after session musician.
