The first evening of Love is Louder Festival is graced by two artists in whose young careers the theme of (self-)love has been an instrument for positive change. Martha Da'ro presents the ‘Club Experience’ of her debut album and American Lyra Pramuk expresses her innermost, primal emotions.
Opening artist Martha Da'ro presents her debut album Philophobia at the Love is Louder Festival. Philophobia, or the fear of love or emotional attachment, is the driving force behind her music, which is somewhere on a clever middle ground between pop, electronic music and hip-hop. The Brussels-based Angolan singer and actress consulted classical pianists, composers and arrangers in her search for theatrical, narrative music. Each song thus evolved into a cinematic scene in a bigger picture. ‘Martha Da’ro formulates an eclectic and ambient soundtrack to her intimate feelings and keeps you wanting more,’ writes Loud and Quiet. At Bozar, she will share the ‘Club Experience’ of her debut album with - and in the middle of - the audience. Our Terarkenzaal is all set.
Lyra Pramuk, known for her raw, ethereal electro-folk, inimitably explores the possibilities of the human voice. With electronics, she frees it from any limitation. On her debut album Fountain (2020), Pramuk makes an orchestra of herself. Every melody, rhythm and texture have only one source: Pramuk's own voice. The result is compelling, devotional music. At Bozar, she brings new, unreleased material and pushes the boundaries of her own sound world. With a fresh approach to staging, she creates a transcendental experience and takes you on a ritualistic journey that must be felt to be truly understood.
