‘Coline Cornélis & Jiha Park’

The Brussels-based DJ and illustrator Coline Cornélis interweaves subtle ambient with sweaty basses in her mixes. She also composes her own introspective music based on field recordings and stimulates mental associations in her audience with pared-back sounds. The Korean Park Jiha’s work ethic may be different, but she shares the passion for ambient. Improvisation on traditional Korean instruments forms the fertile soil for Park’s soundscapes. Her debut album Communion met with worldwide acclaim in 2018: “Jiha’s gift lies in her ability to bypass dull prettiness by using the edges of her instruments.” Add Cornélis’ musical and visual contributions, and the result is a sensational collaboration. “Just lie down and let yourself go,” is Cornélis’ advice.
